What Do I Want Out of Life?

This is the question that has been my focus since 2009, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. In the years that followed, I gained a significant amount of weight, likely due to a cancer-related medication change. I am a big believer in kaizen, the Japanese business philosophy that recognizes that there is always room for improvement, and I decided that what I wanted most at that moment was to improve my current health status. After making shifts toward a healthier diet and lifestyle, in 2013 I met my goal of losing 70 pounds, and have maintained the weight loss since that time.

As a busy wife, mother, and commuter student, I fully understand the time impediments that people face in trying to achieve wellness. I decided to return to graduate school for degrees in dietetics and health promotion, so that I can share my passion and help others maximize their own potential in life, through meeting their health goals. I have had so many wonderful health care providers over the years, and I hope to be able to pay their kindness forward.
